About the NHS App

Setting up an NHS account

If you’re a patient at our practice, you can use the NHS App to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.

It doesn’t replace existing services. You can still contact us in the usual ways.

But, once you have verified your identity in the app, you will have easy, 24/7 access to a growing range of health services and information. You can: 

  • order repeat prescriptions
  • access NHS 111 online
  • find NHS services
  • view your health records
  • book appointments
  • and much more… 

If you have any problems using the NHS App, you can select ‘help’ in the top right-hand corner of the app or visit nhs.uk/helpmeapp.

Download the NHS App on your smartphone or tablet via the Google play or App store. You can also access the same services in a web browser by logging in through the NHS website.

How to set up the NHS App

First you will need to set up an NHS login for yourself. If you have some valid photo ID you can verify yourself within the NHS App. If you do not have valid photo ID, or there you have any difficulties verifying yourself in the App, please contact us via Accurx.

We can then arrange to confirm your identity another way, which will be either:

  1. Sending in a copy of your ID and a photo of yourself
  1. Coming in person to reception to answer a few basic questions from your medical record

You do not need official ID in order to access the NHS App.

We are currently running drop-in sessions to support patients in accessing digital services, and are always happy to help patients get set up.

Keeping your data secure

To access the NHS App, you will need to set up an NHS login and prove who you are. Your NHS App then securely connects to information from your GP surgery.

If your device supports fingerprint detection or facial recognition, you can use it to log in to your NHS App each time, instead of using a password and security code.
